Antigonish County Council Takes Office, Owen McCarron Elected as Warden

It`s official; the county has its council.

 

Last night, the Municipality of the County of Antigonish held a swearing-in ceremony for its

Antigonish County Council at Swearing In Ceremony Monday Night

councillors. It also saw Owen McCarron elected as warden and Hughie Stewart was picked as deputy warden.

 

McCarron said its rewarding to know he has council’s confidence heading into the next four years. It will be McCarron’s first full term as warden, having taken over the role following the passing of former warden Russell Boucher in 2017.

McCarron said council will soon sit down and look at its strategic priorities, as well as listen to the new additions to the table.

Harris McNamara and Shawn Brophy are first time councillors. Returning, either by election or acclamation, are Marry MacLellan, Donnie MacDonald, Remi Deveau, John Dunbar, Gary Mattie, Bill MacFarlane, McCarron, and Stewart. Alfred M Benoit was acclaimed as the CSAP school board member.
