Antigonish Town Council received an update on the College Street Bridge work, with the indication the bridge will reopen to two-way vehicular traffic this week.
During his report to council on Monday, CAO Randy Delorey told members the work resumed after the lifting of a stop work order following a workplace accident on November 14. He said the bridge is scheduled to reopen this week, with two-way vehicular traffic, and one sidewalk on the East side of the bridge, and a weight restriction of 15 tonnes.
Mayor Sean Cameron said they are happy to see the work coming along, noting while they were hoping to have the issue resolved earlier in the fall, it is better to take the slow and safe route than to speed through.
