A former local MP is now Canada’s consul general to Boston and he says he
looks forward to the challenge.
The Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs announced the
appointment of Rodger Cuzner to the position. Cuzner served as the Cape
Breton Canso MP from 2000 until hanging it up in 2019. After working in the
private sector for about a year, Cuzner learned of the position opening and
entered into the process.
Cuzner said there are around 9 consul jobs in throughout the US. Their
purpose is to serve Canadians living abroad, and connecting US and Canadian
businesses. The Boston consul job also looks after Maine, Vermont, New
Hampshire and Rhode Island. Traditionally the appointments ran for about
four years.
