The line-up has been announced for the second annual Antigonish Jazzfest. It will be held November 16th to 18th at venues across Antigonish. It’s an initiative of the Antigonish Tourism Association with support from Canadian Heritage.
The headline show at St. FX University’s Bloomfield Centre will be November 18th with the jazz fusion group, The Headhunters; founded by legendary musician Herbie Hancock in 1973. Other headline acts include two groups out of Toronto, Avataar and Worst Pop Band Ever.
Antigonish Jazzfest Artistic Director Paul Tynan says there’s a lot of local and regional entertainers as well.
Also at the festival is Inverness County native and gypsy-jazz entertainer Donald MacLennan, Juno-award winning saxaphonist Joel Miller, members of the music faculty at St. FX Univerisity and the Cobequid Education Centre Jazz Combo. There’s also a Battle of the Bands for high school groups, and late night jam sessions.
