Local Students Receive Academic Awards at NSCC Convocations in Strait Area and Pictou Campuses

Several local students picked up academic awards as the Nova Scotia Community College held

convocation ceremonies at the Strait Area Campus in Port Hawkesbury and the Pictou Campus in Stellarton on Thursday.

At the Strait Area Campus Convocation, April Fletcher of Port Hawkesbury in the Business Administration and Accounting diploma program was the recipient of the Board of Governors Award. West Bay’s Emma Wyre of the Office Administration Certificate program was presented the Nova Scotia Community College Gold Medal. The NSCC Alumni Award was given to Marian O’Toole of D’Escousse in the Pratical Nursing diploma program. Port Hawkesbury’s Amberlee Chiavari of the Continuing Care diploma program captured the President’s award.

At the Pictou Campus Convocation, Hopewell’s Deanna Hobbs of the Office Administration Certificate program received two awards; the Nova Scotia Community College Gold Medal and the President’s Award. Janet Landry of Thorburn, a graduate in the Electronic Engineering Technician diploma program was the recipient of the Board of Governors’ Award. Travis David of Trenton in the Business Administration diploma program captured the NSCC Alumni Award.
