The Nova Scotia Nurses Union is underlining a common theme during COVID-19 pandemic as it
marks National Nursing Week. It’s message is; nurses are working on the frontlines to care for all Nova Scotians; please stay home to help them save lives.
NSNU president and Antigonish native Janet Hazelton says the biggest concern is if people don’t stay home, the disease could spread and overwhelm the hospital system.
Hazelton says the only place where there has been an issue with COVID-19 in the province is the Northwood long-term care home in Halifax, and its put a significant strain on that facility. Hazelton adds this pandemic has also raised public awareness on the risk nurses and other health care workers have going to work every day.
