The community of Canso is hopeful that three open nursing positions at Eastern Memorial 
Hospital will be filled by June. The Emergency Department at the Canso hospital has been closed at night since last May due to the shortage of nurses. Conditional offers have been made to three Registered Nurses in other parts of Canada who plan to move to Canso this spring. While the news is a step forward, Guysborough District Warden Vernon Pitts says the province needs to take more responsibility with recruitment.
