Order of Canada to be Conferred to Two People with Ties to Antigonish; Lucille Harper and Michael Donovan

Two people with ties to Antigonish will be awarded Canada’s highest civilian honour on Thursday.

The two, Lucille Harper and Michael Donovan are among 54 individuals that will be invested into the Order of Canada at a ceremony at Rideau Hall in Ottawa.

Harper who is being invested as a member of the Order, is being recognized for her long-time leadership of the Antigonish Women’s Resource Centre and Sexual Assault Services Association and for her ongoing activism.

Donovan, who is being invested as an Officer of the Order, is being recognized for his contributions to Canadian Film and Television. Michael and his brother Paul founded Salter Street Films, producers of such television shows as This Hour has 22 Minutes, CODCO, Emily of New Moon and Made in Canada.

Later Donovan formed the Halifax Film Company, which merged with Decode Entertaiment to form DHX Media, a leader in family and children’s entertainment content. Donovan,who was the company’s CEO, left DHX in 2019. It has been re-branded as WildBrain.
