The new Assembly of First Nations Regional Chief for Nova Scotia and Newfoundland Paul J. Prosper of Paqtnkek says it is
a bittersweet moment for him as he assumes his new role. Prosper says while he is excited about this new challenge, it means stepping down as Paqtnkek Chief. However, Prosper says he plans to continue to live in Paqtnkek. Prosper says he’s begun the work of transitioning to his new position.
Prosper was elected to the three-year post by Chiefs from Nova Scotia and Newfoundland earlier this month.
Paqtnkek Band Council has appointed Tma Francis as Interim Chief.
