funding for people and business struggling to stay ahead.

During this afternoon’s provincial Covid 19 update, Premier Stephen McNeil announced a $20 million dollar worker emergency bridge fund to help the self employed and those who are laid off and do not qualify for employment insurance.  The province will provide a one-time $1,000 payment to bridge the gap between the layoffs and closures and the federal emergency response benefit. The province also announced $20 million small business impact grant, with eligible businesses received a grant worth 15 per cent of their gross revenue, up to a maximum of $5,000. The goal is to begin processing applications early next week. Info on how and where to apply will be made available at novascotia.ca/coronavirus

The remaining $10 million dollars will be used for priorities identified in the agreement with Dalhousie.

Near the end of the update, McNeil said he wanted to address children directly.

McNeil also thanked people like Heather Thompson from New Glasgow,  who created the ultimate online Nova Scotia Kitchen party, and those who offered their talents online to keep people upbeat and entertained.
