Soccer’s Christina Gentile and Hockey’s Adam Holwell named Athletes of the Week; Malcolm Bussey, Josh Connors and Max Capriotti are X-Men Football Players of the Week

The St. FX Athletes of the Week are defenders in the sports of Soccer and Hockey.

The Female Athlete of the Week is X-Women Soccer goalkeeper Christina Gentile.

The Male Athlete of the week is X-Men Hockey Defenseman Adam Holwell.   The fifth year

business student from St. John’s, Newfoundland played a strong game on defense in X-men’s 4-1 win over Acadia on Saturday to open the AUS season.   He also scored the X-Men’s second goal of the game.

The St. FX X-Men Football Offensive player of the Week is running back Malcolm Bussey.   The second year Human Kinetics student from Hammonds Plains scored two touchdowns for the X-Men in their 30-10 win over Bishop’s on Saturday.

The X-Men Defensive Player of the Week is Linebacker Josh Connors.   The third year Business student from Hamilton, Ontario led the X-Men in tackles in their win over Bishop’s, improving their record to 5-and-0 on the season.   He had 6.5 tackles in the game including five solo tackles and one sack for a loss of five yards on the play.

The X-Men Special Teams Player of the Week is Kicker and Punter Max Capriotti.   The fourth year Human Kinetics Student from Mount Hope, Ontario had an excellent day punting in bad weather.   He had 12 punts for 421 yards, averaging 35.1 yards a punt, including five punts inside the 20 yard line.   He had a long punt of 63 yards, the longest of the season in the AUS and added a rouge in the game.
